It was rather a cold and overcast day venturing up to see if there were any orchids blooming on Tinpot and Ironpot Mountains in the Wild Dogs – part of the Blue Mountains National Park. We only found one and it was a little sad as it had likely bloomed weeks ago. It didn’t dampen the trip at all as this is a very scenic area. The terrain is rocky and moss-like plants grow over the rough boulders. The subdued colours of the Australian bush always amaze me as there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. Even in the wet it seems so dry.
