Six Foot Track : Jenolan to Katoomba

October 19, 2019 by sadhaka9

Forty four point three kilometres winding over 3 days through the Blue Mountains. Start from Jenolan and head for Katoomba. The second day is a relentless downhill all day. It’s hard on the knees but to go the other way would be a lot tougher. There are lot’s of echidnas, wallabies and kangaroos. If you are lucky you may even come across a red bellied black snake.

Flinders Island & Strzeleki National Park

October 16, 2019 by sadhaka9

Nature bends to the will of the wind. Beaches extend for as far as the eye can see. Long and white. Pristine and untouched. Boulders groan under their industrial rust. Clouds touch the earth and the sky opens to blue. If you listen close enough you can here both fur and feathers travelling on the relentless breeze…

The Tarkine

September 5, 2019 by sadhaka9

It’s strange to be in one of the world’s last temperate rainforests and only see dryness. To hear the earth crunching underfoot instead of that soft, slippery suction of mud grabbing boot. Monolithic trees 800 years old tower above creaking and cracking, as if they can sense their impending doom. Unprotected against man, the bulldozers march in without a care. When water starts falling from above, will it be the rain tumbling from the sky, or the tears of nature […]

Norfolk Island

September 4, 2019 by sadhaka9

Of blood and toil, and the endless suffering of men and women condemned to ‘Hell in Paradise’, hell is no longer. Only an unusual bucolic narrative intertwined with the remnants of lives tortured and lost.

Lake St Clair National Park – Shadow Lake Circuit

June 30, 2019 by sadhaka9

How wondrous to be alone in the bush. To explore and discover the shadows and lights, the textures and colours. The spikiness of the bushes, the smoothness of the tree trunks. To bid good day to friends on the track and let them go about their daily business. To watch the growth and decay. The dryness and water. The cycle of life.

Dharawal National Park

June 29, 2019 by sadhaka9

A lush oasis in the centre of a eucalypt forest. Cool and green and clear. Rosellas sit amongst the trees contemplating the warmth of the suns rays against the cool breeze. Tiny flowers bloom as if to say peek-a-boo. If only for a minute. Green against green against brown against rock. An ancient place to dwell, to ponder.

Bruny Island

November 25, 2017 by sadhaka9

Such a wonderland of beaches and cliffs, wildlife and history. The clearest sunrise. Animal tracks in the sand. A juxtapositioning of rugged coastline and countryside. Dirt roads and arthritic buildings. An abundance of birdlife. Albatross flying overhead,  circling but never stopping. Seals lazing on rocks. If you are lucky you can see the rare albino wallaby…for me…that will be another trip!

Hartz Mountains National Park

November 14, 2017 by sadhaka9

The Tasmanian mountains exposed and lush with alpine vegetation. Tiny island gardens sit within pools of reflective waters. An easy track up to the peak. Climbing out of the plateau and into the sky. As far as the eye can see undulating mountains and expansive views. The wind blows cool under the blue sky and sunshine. Clouds cast moving shadows across the dense, green surface. Rocks thousands of years old piled high. Air and space hide among the cracks and […]
