Lake St Clair National Park – Shadow Lake Circuit

June 30, 2019 by sadhaka9

How wondrous to be alone in the bush. To explore and discover the shadows and lights, the textures and colours. The spikiness of the bushes, the smoothness of the tree trunks. To bid good day to friends on the track and let them go about their daily business. To watch the growth and decay. The dryness and water. The cycle of life.

A Burst of Berries

April 10, 2016 by sadhaka9

A symphony of  joyful tints reside in the Autumn forests of Tasmania. Bursts of colour in the form of small and delicate surprises. Purple, red, blue, pink, orange and white happily mix together in harmony. Brightening the world under the greying sky. If only here for a moment they come to life with joy. Dotting the landscape in a celebration of the seasons just passed and welcoming the white winter wonderland they will soon sleep under.

Royal National Park : Curra Moors Loop

March 2, 2016 by sadhaka9

A fairly easy walk of 10km from the bush to the sea and back. The word ‘Curra’ is aboriginal for water spring and if going clockwise around the loop this is what you will find about one third a way around the track. Trickling over the rocks, making it’s way to the open sea, the water flows forwards as if in an endless race for freedom. The wind whips up the overflow into a whirlwind of mist. Cheeky lizards get […]

Tasman National Park : Three Capes Track

February 10, 2016 by sadhaka9

An amazing 4 day hike around the southern edge of Tasman National Park, Tasmania. Can only be done through the official Three Capes Track operated by the National Parks. The cabins are well kitted out and we were lucky as there was only 11 of us who started on the same day. I had a whole cabin to myself! From the morning to the afternoon several ecosystems can be passed through. From the cloud forest, to tornado ridge to the most […]

The Overland Track

October 24, 2015 by sadhaka9

The earth is old. Monolithic in nature. Purely abandoned. Invitingly desolate. Grey and bold. A giant’s playground. Steadfast and solid. Too threatening to be challenged. A graveyard for trees. White with age. Reaching out as if stretching for survival. Their last breath howling with the wind as life evaporates from their twisted limbs. An abundance of life. With trickling water and prehistoric moss. Cold and hot. Ice and fire. Fluffy shapes moving in the foliage. Soft and fearless. Cheekily untouchable. […]

Kamay Botany Bay NP 2

October 11, 2014 by sadhaka9

Across Botany Bay the National Park continues. Walking along the cliff line it is amazing to see that this high up it is still like a beach. Pure white sand becomes amber yellow and back again. The sandstone rocks are molded into strangely beautiful circular shapes by the wind that constantly blows around them eroding each grain over time. Following the track into the vegetation birds flit everywhere. I seem to be surrounded by them in the dense bushes. The […]

Heathcote NP

October 6, 2014 by sadhaka9

There are so many national parks around Sydney it’s amazing. The great thing is they are all so different. In one park alone the vegetation can change dramatically. Heathcote NP is no exception. Peppering the landscape the indigenous gymea lily seems like such a jurassic flower. It is so high there is no way to see the top of it. You can tell it comes from a place long before humans. The birds love it. Native aboriginals used to eat […]
